Summary of the lecture
As the steel industry embraces digital transformation, simulation technologies are transforming how we learn, practise, and innovate.
In this steelTalk, Dr Ing. Ronald O’Brien, Instructional Designer at steeluniversity, will introduce the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Secondary Steelmaking (SS) simulators. These tools enable participants to apply fundamental metallurgy concepts, run complete steelmaking simulations, and analyse data to optimise production decisions.
Designed for both newcomers and experienced professionals, this interactive session will help you learn to use the simulators effectively, complete a full production run, and take part in a dedicated Q&A to clarify your doubts and build confidence ahead of steelChallenge-20.
What you will learn:
- Apply core metallurgy concepts to EAF and SS steelmaking processes.
- Operate the steelmaking simulators to complete a full production run.
- Interpret simulation data for better decision-making and optimisation.
