steelChallenge-19 registration is now open
steeluniversity, the education and training programme of the World Steel Association (worldsteel), announces the opening of registrations for the 19th edition of steelChallenge.
steelChallenge is recognised by the global steel community as the preeminent competition to engage students and industry professionals to showcase their ability to make the best quality steel at the lowest cost.
Registration is now officially open for steelChallenge-19 on the steeluniversity.org website.
The competition takes place in two categories, student and industry. All entrants are tasked to produce a grade of steel meeting technical requirements at the lowest cost per tonne with carbon footprint requirements. The first round, The Regional Championship, will be on 26th November 2024 from 12.00 UTC and will select a champion from each of our five regions – Americas, Europe & Africa, Asia – West, Asia- North, Asia – East and Oceania. Participants will have 24 hours to record successful runs of the chosen steelmaking simulators.
Participants who register for this learning programme are given access to our Learning Solutions Directory to take e-learning courses, attend live masterclasses, interact with 3D models and practice on the simulator. There are also dedicated training workshops for top-level sponsors.
The final round, The World Championship, will take place on April 2025.
Regional Champions receive a cash prize, a regional championship certificate and an invitation to the World Championship. They will also gain recognition as the global industry’s promising new generation of metallurgists and will be featured on steeluniversity’s website. The World Champions will get the steelChallenge trophy, an additional cash prize and World Champion certificate.
