I cannot find a way to contact individual members within the group. I can look at a member profile and find their email address but is this the only way?

Something weird happens after I post a message. I get thrown out of the group and go back to the main SU site. From there it is not clear how to return to the group. I found a way through the search facility but this was not intuitive.
