MET02052 – Combination of Strengthening Mechanisms

The Combination of Strengthening Mechanisms is part of the Strengthening Mechanisms courses. Strengthening Mechanisms are part of the Ferrous Metallurgy set of courses. In this course, how the pearlite is formed during the cooling of steel will be examined as well as how increasing C content increases the strength of the two phase mixture. After that, Strengthening by Pearlite will be examined and the Gladman model will be explained; a comparison between these results and experimental results will be showed. Then, Precipitation Hardening will be introduced. In particular, TEM image will be showed. Finally, theoretical considerations (Newbach) will be introduced with two models, one proposed by Hansen and the other proposed by Jian, Fuyu & WenChong.
