Course Summary

During the first part of this course you will be introduced to the modeling of the life cycle of a component or machine within a process, as well as learn how to categorize the types of failures that may occur.

In the second part, the 4 maintenance policies will be introduced:

• Corrective or breakage-based maintenance;
• Preventive maintenance based on time and usage;
• Condition-based maintenance;
• Improvement maintenance based on failure analysis.

Thirdly, we will address predictive diagnostic techniques. These techniques allow to monitor a piece of equipment or material in a non-invasive way.

Finally, by analyzing conceptual case studies we will evaluate which maintenance policy is convenient to implement according to economic and technical factors.

Audience: Engineers or similar with little or no experience in maintenance policies.
