Summary of the lecture

Weldable high strength bars are widely used and recognised worldwide. However, its use in some Latin American countries, such as Chile, has had a slow growth for multiple reasons: a strong installation of the NCh204, regulations of non-official weldable bars, the good functioning of the current regulations in the face of seismic events in the region, among others.

This presentation aims to present the case of the Chacao Canal Bridge, in southern Chile, and show the experience of the team of the Huachipato Steel Company, CAP Acero, as suppliers of this project. In addition, ideas regarding the use of weldable high-strength bars will be presented and some ideas regarding their use will be demystified.
