Summary of the lecture
Today, despite a traditional conservative approach, the leading international steel companies more and more rely on IT and digital technologies both for the support of their current operations and for their development. However, the research shows that only 20% of global industrial companies receive the expected benefits from their digital investments.
The lecture presents an overview of the basic IT and digital landscape elements in a large modern steel company.
The speaker will discuss the main trends in the industry, the transformation of companies with the help of technologies, the hands-on aspects of the successful implementation of new process solutions, and the new challenges and risks of the digital age.
Speaker Introduction
Dmitry Yakob
Before joining TMK, Dmitry had worked in IT s for 15 years. He started as a junior programmer in a startup that developed and customized ERP systems. In the course of his career, Dmitry acquired an extensive background in a wide range of IT areas: development, design, infrastructure projects, cybersecurity, and digital.
Dmitry has been with TMK since 2014. He participated in the development of the company’s strategy, led the development of the cybersecurity strategy and digital technologies. Presently, as the company’s IT Director he is in charge of both their implementation and the portfolio of IT projects in general.
Dmitry has two higher education degrees, in Engineering and in Economics. In 2013, he received his PhD in Engineering from Ural Federal University, Russia.
