Summary of the lecture

This steelTalks brings together a panel of Human Resources from steel companies around the world. They’ll share how their companies are addressing mental health in the work place, with a particular focus on the impact of COVID-19.

Each of the panelists will present opening comments on their company approach to mental health. This will be followed by a question & answer session using submissions from the audience.

Panelist Introduction

Jasem Al Khateri
Vice President Human Capital & Services
Emirates Steel Industries Company PJC

Jasem Al Khateri is responsible for Human Capital, Information Technology and Services. He has work in both the public and private sectors in the UAE, and prior to joining Emirates Steel, worked as the Director of Human Resources at the Department of Economic Developmentin Abu Dhabi, and the Director of Planning and Forecasting at Etisalat.

Mr Al Khateri holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Business Administration, both from UAE University.



Dr Abdul Malik
Plant Medical Officer
Tata Steel Ltd

Dr Abdul Malik, a medical doctor with specialisation in Industrial Health, working as Head Occupational Health Services at Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur, India. He has been engaged with COVID-19 steering committee while handling the pandemic and taken part in several measures to contain spread of the virus at Tata Steel. Dr Malik has experience of 25 years in Occupational Health, Ergonomics & Industrial Hygiene, with more than 15 years working in other TATA group companies, including Tata Chemicals, Limited Mithapur, manufacturing TATA Salt and Fertilizer division at Babrala, India.

He has published Research paper on” Workplace Ergonomics” at International Conference of Occupational Health at Mumbai in year 2020. He is also setting up Industrial Hygiene facilities across Tata Steel India.



Elena Pozolotina

Elena Pozolotina began her career in the steel industry in 2005 with TMK.

She led the project to create a corporate university at TMK. In 2017, Elena was appointed Director of TMK2U Corporate University.

In her current role, Elena is overseeing a workforce of over 54,000 employees.

Elena graduated from Ural State Technical University with a specialist’s degree in management. She has a PhD in Economics.
