Summary of the lecture

Join us for an enlightening journey into the world of steelmaking simulators, led by Ph.D. Ronald O’Brien.

In this masterclass we will dive deep into the heart of steelmaking, focusing on the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Secondary Steelmaking (SS) processes. Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to refine your skills or a newcomer to metallurgy, this session is designed to meet your learning needs.

We’ll start by laying a solid foundation to ensure you understand the basic concepts of EAF and SS processes. Our lecturer will then provide practical insights and insider knowledge of these critical steelmaking processes.

This masterclass aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to improve your performance and participation in steelChallenge-19.

Engage in dynamic discussions and ask questions to deepen your understanding. Ronald will be with you every step of the way to ensure your questions are answered and concepts are clearly understood.

What you will learn:

  • Apply the basic concepts of EAF and SS processes for steelmaking.
  • Operate the steelmaking simulator to produce a complete run.
  • Interpret the data generated by the simulation to make informed decisions about optimization.
