Summary of the lecture
In this conference, the engineer Rigoberto Torres Villeda, Gerdau Corsa’s market development advisor, will introduce us to the use of steel profiles as foundation elements.
In particular, technical reference information will be presented based on engineering methods accepted by regulations, experimental tests and works carried out using steel profiles as foundation elements.
Author of different articles related to the application of W and H profiles in deep foundations, Torres Villeda joins steelTalks to share his experience in the application of steel for construction.

Rigoberto Torres Villeda
He is a civil engineer, graduated from the Higher School of Engineering and Architecture of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, specialising in the design of steel structures.
He began his professional career at the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP), in the area of Projects for Industrial Plants and later worked for Grupo Modelo SAB de CV; in Project Management.
He joined Gerdau Corsa in 2008 in the Project Engineering area, where he has coordinated different investment projects such as the Gerdau Corsa Metálicos master plan, the Modernisation of Steelworks at La Presa plant, and the Expansion of the rolling mill at the Tultitlan plant. He is currently working on developing the market for structural profiles and their application in containment of slopes, deep foundations, bridges, structures, etc.
Engineer Torres Villeda is a member of the Mexican Society of Geotechnical Engineering (SMIG), the Mexican Society of Structural Engineering (SMIE) and the Mexican Society of Seismic Engineering (SMIS). In addition, he has carried out various trainings in his professional area.
