STK0313 – Explosive gas atmospheres: preventive measures and gas warning devices

Description

Date: 08 June, 2023, 13.00 UTC. Webinar

Estimated Time: 1 hr

Language: English

Summary of the lecture

In this webinar, we will focus on the properties and hazards of flammable gases and vapors that can form an explosive atmosphere. This in particular with the focus on the increasing use of hydrogen in this industry. The images of the exploding zeppelin “Hindenburg” should probably be in everyone’s mind. The ignition of hydrogen caused a disaster in Manchester in 1937. In today’s steel production, flammable and explosive gases play a major role, and that of hydrogen is even increasing. It is all the more important to identify safety risks, comply with international regulations and close safety gaps through gas detection technology, safety processes and training.
